Born in 1935, Morrison had a music career spanning more than 50 years, gaining fame with a collection of hits with the Howard Morrison Quartet in the late 1950s and 1960s. He was awarded an OBE in 1976, and knighted in 1990 for his services to entertainment. Few people may have heard of this legendary Kiwi but for New Zealand this is a sad loss but his music goes on.
There are several very well known bands who people may not think have New Zealand origins. But this blog gives me the excuse to mention one of the all time great pop bands..Split Enz..brilliant. Remember ‘I got you’. Fab stuff. Check them out and help the campaign to rekindle their tracks.
